What Are Some Good Ideas For Birthday Parties?

To really answer this question you need to think about what YOUR little boy likes. Whilst we could list a million boys party ideas, unless you know what your son is into, it will still be a minefield for you.

ANYTHING can make a great party, but it will only be great if it interests your child.

For example, is he into dinosaurs, or cars, or superhero's? Working from his interests is a great place to start.

If you are still unsure then ask him! Even 2 year olds will be able to tell you what their favorite toys are.

Whilst it's not possible to include every party idea, here are some that you might like:

Art Party:

Your artistic little man would love an art party. There are many things that the kids could paint. They could paint on canvas, fruit or even make their own t-shirt.

Just remember to provide the kids with a smock to protect their clothes.

Now that you have decided on a theme, you can start to prepare the decoration. Keep it simple and keep it fun.

The first recommendation is to to create a party backdrop. This helps to set the scene with the colors. The other decorations will naturaly fall into place.

Making your own decorations might take a bit of time, but it will save you a heap of money plus you get exactly what you want. The kids can also help which makes the party preparation even more exciting.

Use party printables for simple and easy decor. These are perfect for a themed party and can instantly help set the scene with little effort.

Where possible try and make food that is related to your theme. For instance there are a variety of cookie cutters available to make different shaped food.

There are however always certain foods that kids just love to have at their parties, regardless of the theme. For example, you might like to try the following;

  • All kids love their fairy bread. You can also make it into shapes with cookie cutters if you are feeling adventerous.
  • Chocolate monster popcorn will always be a crowd favorite. Simply change the chocolate coloring to suit any party theme.
  • If in doubt, you can always try these easy finger food options.

How To Make A House Party FUN

Whilst the idea of going to a venue can be very tempting, it isn't great if you are on a tight budget. Holding a party at home can often be best way to have the ultimate party without the huge cost.

If you know what you are doing, a kids party at home can be completely epic. The kids will soon be asking you to host every year.

Have you ever taken your kids to a party, you walk in, everyone is standing around looking at each other? Then there is silence. Yep, don't do this!

For starters have some music playing. YES, have music playing, even for the toddlers. But not YOUR music. KIDS MUSIC!

Are your kids into nursery rhymes? Play those!

Do your kids like the lego movie soundtrack? Play that!

The music fills the air, it creates a vibe and will help to instantly relax everyone.

Have the food table set up before the kids arrive, so you can spend time WITH the kids and not running back and forth to the kitchen. If parents are dropping their kids off, they will really appreciate seeing you interact with their kids, and not messing around heating up sausage rolls and getting out jello.

What Games Do You Play At A Birthday Party?

It is ALWAYS a good idea to have games at a kids birthday party. There are several reasons for this:

  1. It provides a structure for your party, allowing you to keep to time, but also to alleviate the stress of wondering how to fill the time.
  2. It ensures that ALL the kids are involved. Think about that child that doesn't know anyone other than the birthday boy. The best way to get them connected is to start playing games.
  3. Whilst everyone loves a bit of 'free play', structured games ensures that everyone enjoys themselves.
  4. Games are simply FUN.

Preparing for games doesn't have to be difficult. In fact, the best games are often the simplest ones.

Think back to your childhood. Those games like pass the parcel and pin the tail on the donkey. They were always popular and it is easy to tailor them to the theme of a party.
