So you are not afraid of making a huge mess at your next party?

A well thought out list of party games will ensure that your party runs smoothly and that everyone has a great time.

Sometimes you might decide to add one or two games into the list that can mix things up a bit and create a bit of a mess.

Or perhaps you are planning a full on messy party?

Either way, these messy games will be perfect to use.

Some create just a little bit of mess, and others will create a whole heap of mess. But one thing that they will definitely create is a lot of fun and laughter.

Easy Messy Games For All To Enjoy

1. Food Fight

A food fight is probably one of the most traditional messy games.

To play, literally have a whole heap of food available and let players have a free for all with throwing the food at one another.

Popular foods to use for a food fight include:

  • Jello
  • Mashed Potato
  • Scrambled Egg
  • Canned Spaghetti or baked beans
  • Tomatoes

Ensure that all the food is “soft” and that anything hard has been removed from play.

2. Grape Bobbing

Give each player a plate of flour with 10 grapes hidden in it.

The players have to find all 10 grapes using only their teeth, which means getting their full face in the flour!

Players must keep their hands behind their backs to avoid any cheating.

The first player to retrieve all 10 grapes is the winner!

For younger players, the flour could be substituted for popcorn, if they don’t feel comfortable getting their face so dirty.

3. Go Fishing

Place aluminium bowls filled with whipped cream on the floor or a table. Each player needs their own bowl.

Place 10 gummy bears in the whipped cream and let players fish them out with their teeth only.

Their hands need to be placed behind their backs.

The player to retrieve all the gummy bears first is the winner.

4. Cheese Ball Toss

Divide players into equal teams. One player needs to volunteer to have their face completely covered with shaving cream. Alternatively players can wear a shower cap which is covered with shaving cream.

The other players have 30 seconds to throw as many cheese balls at the players face as possible.

The team that manages to have the most cheese balls stick is the winner.

5. Rice Mold Game

This game requires players to be split into teams.

Each given is given a bowl of cooked and very sticky rice. The teams then have time on the clock to create a sculpture of some description.

The team with the best sculpture wins.

6. Egg Toss

To play this game, players pair up and stand in lines opposite each other.

The player throws the egg to their partner and the partner then throws it back.

Each time these two throws are successful, both players take a step back and the throw sequence starts again.

The winning team is the team that manages to be the furthest apart without having the egg dropped.

7. Messy Slip And Slide

You might think that a slip and slide isn’t a messy game?

But it totally can be with a few extra ingredients!

Aside from the usual water on the slip and slide, add some shaving cream or washable paint. This will definitely add more mess and a lot of laughs.

8. Water Color Fight

Every player needs to wear a white t-shirt and have their own water gun.

The water guns are filled with water and also water colors or paint.

The aim of the game is to shoot everyone, which in turn will decorate their t-shirts.

It would be a good idea to also wear goggles for this game, to ensure that coloring doesn’t get into the eyes.

9. Pinata

A pinata becomes a messy game once it has been smashed open.

Even the smashing of it can create quite a mess when the pinata decoration goes flying!

Hang the pinata somewhere sturdy and let players take it in turns to hit the pinata until it breaks open.

There are numerous things you can fill your pinata with, including:

  • Candy
  • Tattoos
  • Lipbalm or lip gloss
  • Balloons
  • Pens
  • Mini notepads

10. Water Balloon Pinata

For a different take on the pinata, how about a water balloon pinata. This simply involves having various balloons around the garden that are filled with water.

Take it in turn to bash the balloons and send the water flying!

11. Messy Twister

Messy twister is played exactly the same way as regular twister, except that it’s messy!

You might like to use a regular twister game, or you could choose to create your own by using paper plates or creating spots onto a white sheet.

For each color spot you need to create something messy.

Ideas include:

  • Red: Tomato sauce or red jello
  • Yellow: Mustard or yellow jello
  • Blue: Blue jello
  • Green: Mashed peas or green jello

Alternatively you could make up a slime or whipped cream mixture and add different colors to each mixture.

12. Chocolate Game

This game is easy, fun and always popular.

All you need to play is a block of chocolate, a knife and fork, dress up clothes and dice.

The players sit in a circle. The chocolate, clothing and dice are placed into the middle of the circle.

Players then take it in turns to throw the dice.

If they throw a 6, they move into the middle of the circle, put the dress up clothes on and start cutting away at the chocolate. They can only eat one piece of chocolate at a time!

As soon as another player throws a 6, they have to stop eating the chocolate, take off the dress ups and swap places.

Messy games are certainly not for the faint hearted. But with a well prepared plan in place, messy games can bring a whole new lease of life to a party that will be very distinct from others.

Ensure that you have adequate clean up measures in place and then let everyone enjoy an enormous amount of fun.
