My son loves Paw Patrol.
Not only does he love Paw Patrol, but he is obsessed by the little fire dog pup Marshall. When he requested to have a Paw Patrol birthday party, we decided to focus on Marshall as the main character.
He just loves the color red, so this made it super easy to fit the party decor around the Paw Patrol theme.
Creating a Paw Patrol birthday party is super easy.
You just need to think “puppy” and from there everything falls into place nicely.
Whilst I don’t normally like to do “character themes” this has to be one of my favorite party themes to date and I love the finished result.
Paw Patrol Birthday Party Decorations
Every good party starts with a party backdrop.
This style of backdrop has been used for so many parties I have created. The backdrop is great for several reasons;
- It’s made from plastic tablecloths so it is very cheap
- The backdrop can be tailored to any party theme by simply switching the colors used
- It always provides a stunning backdrop to the party table.
There are some things that I do for every one of my kids parties. One of those things is that I like to include a large number for the age they are turning and decorate it to the party theme.
The cardboard number 3 I simply painted red and added a cut out of Marshall.
I also create a printable package for all my kids parties, which include water bottle labels, food tent labels, cupcake toppers, candy bar wrappers, favor bag tags and party trail maps.
I love how printable’s tie a theme together and they are always the perfect finishing touch to the party decor.
Paw Patrol Birthday Party Food
Cakes and Cupcakes
The ONE thing that I always splurge on with my kids parties is their birthday cake.
One reason is because I absolutely love my cake and the second is that it really makes a stand out featured for the party table.
I wanted a Paw Patrol birthday cake that was simple, but had the wow factor.
One of the ways that I try to keep the cost down for the cake is to limit the decorations that I am asking the cake decorator to include on it.
For this cake, I used a Marshall car to place on the top, which meant that the other decorations could remain very simple.
Using your own cake topper is much cheaper than having a fondant figure made. Plus it means that the birthday child has an extra gift to play with after the party!
The Paw Patrol cake was made by Sweet-Nes cakes and not only did it look amazing, but it tasted fantastic. It was definitely the star of the table.
I absolutely LOVE creating themed food for a party.
Themed food makes the party table look that little bit extra special and it’s so much fun to see a theme come completely to life with all the little elements coming together.
My standard go to items for my kids parties are jello, cupcakes and marshmallow pops. These are so easy to theme by simply changing colors and different little elements.
I then added popcorn, fruit, cookies, fairy bread, and lollies as the extra’s.
You can never have enough cake at a kids party, so I always like to make cupcakes as well as the main cake. Besides, there is something about themed cupcakes that I just can’t resist.
These Paw Patrol cupcakes turned out absolutely adorable.
Party Snacks
Once you know how to make marshmallow pops, it is so easy to change them up for every party you hold.
These Paw Patrol marshmallow pops were so adorable with a simple red chocolate coating and bone sitting on the top.
We used a bone shaped cookie cutter to create some perfect Paw Patrol cookies, decorated with red sprinkles because my son is a fan of Marshall and he is red!
My son loves his fruit, so we did two bowls of fruit which were displayed in red dog bowls.
To create some added fun, we used bone cookie cutters to cut the watermelon.
We also used the bone cookie cutter to create some fun looking fairy bread. It was perfect for the Paw Patrol birthday party theme.
Jello is always an easy food for the kids and it is always super popular.
Fun Party Activities
One of the things that I ALWAYS do for my kids parties, is to organize a bunch of activities and party games for them.
Whilst it is great for kids to play their own games, organised activities are great for a number of reasons.
- It helps to keep the party under control. Having a bunch of preschoolers running around and screaming will wear thin after 30 minutes!
- Not all the kids might know each other, so having activities ensures that no-one is left alone. It also ensures that all the kids are involved and enjoying the party regardless of how many little friends they have there.
- Activities help to keep you on track with timing.
- And lastly, activities are simply FUN.
Classic games to include at any party are pass the parcel and pin the tail on the donkey.
In addition to these games, I included several other fun and exciting games for the kids.
Bean Bag Toss
My dad made up this awesome Marshall Paw Patrol party bean bag toss. The kids loved throwing the bean bags through the holes to see how many points they could score.
Paw Patrol Coloring Station
A coloring station is always a good option for the younger kids.
It gives them a chance to sit quietly for a while if they need to. I printed off some coloring sheets of various Paw Patrol characters and left them on a table for the kids to enjoy.
Paw Patrol Treasure Trail
Towards the end of the party, I always complete a treasure trail with the kids. The kids are given a party bag and they follow a map to find the treasure to put in the bags.
Whilst undertaking the treasure the trail, the kids were also given a party Paw Patrol hat. This just made them look extra cute!
A treasure trail is a great way for the kids to run about, and they are always excited to collect their goodies.
We also set up a photo booth with Paw Patrol masks for the kids to wear.
The Paw Patrol birthday party was an absolute hit with my son and his little friends. The kids loved the treats, loved the games and there were so many “wow’s” when they saw the decor.
The great thing is that everything was so easy to create and it was very budget friendly too.
If your little one loves Paw Patrol then this is a party theme that you can’t go wrong with.
