With the weather warming up, it’s lovely to think of family outings to the parks and lazy picnic’s in the sun. Picnic’s don’t have to be all about sandwiches and the perfect picnic food could be easier to organize than you think. I have organized a selection of savory and sweet options for your picnic hamper that the entire family are going to love.
Perfect Picnic Food: It’s Bite Sized!
The perfect picnic food entails little morsels that are bite sized. Food taste so much better this way! To start getting your taste buds ready for the picnic gorging, make up some sausage and onion topping, and add it to some crackers. This is the ultimate picnic snack.
Seeing as you have those crackers ready, it seems only appropriate to have something to dip them into! You can’t go wrong with this pumpkin hummus recipe. It’s thick, full of flavor and perfect for sharing.
Bacon mini quiche are the perfect little bites for a picnic and something that the kids are going to enjoy too. You could even make up a few batches of different flavors.
For another bite sized treat, try out these mini mushroom pizza’s. I think these would be a winner for the kids.
Perfect picnic food is all about things that are quick and easy to prepare, but taste delicious too. Cheese puffs are therefore perfect for this occasion as they taste great eaten cold (that’s if you can resist eating them once they have come out the oven!).
The kids are going to love you if you make some of these homemade veggie pizza pockets. They would certainly be a picnic treat.
If you would like to get the kids to tuck into some veggies whilst on their picnic, then whip up a batch of these baked cheesy cauliflower bites. Take a little dipping sauce to go with them, and the kids will have a lot of fun eating them.
Amazing Picnic Salads:
For something refreshing on your lazy picnic, you will love this easy fetta apple salad. You can literally whip this up in minutes before you leave the house.
Oh a tuna salad would be absolutely delicious at a picnic, don’t you agree? You don’t need a lot of special ingredients to make it, so it is even perfect when you decided to go on that picnic right at the last minute.
Another salad idea that is just as simple, is a irresistible cucumber and tomato salad. It’s easy to make, perfectly refreshing and there wouldn’t be any arguments from the kids for tucking into it. What more could you possible want!
If you are someone that loves eating pasta cold as well as hot (which I absolutely am), you might like to pack a zucchini kale pasta. It’s a light refreshing pasta, so perfect for a lazy picnic.
