Kids party food is simply the best. It’s great to be able to make some food that is themed to the party, but this can often cause us mom’s stress. Let’s face it, we are not professional bakers (well, not all of us are).
But not having the baking skills doesn’t mean you have to spend a huge amount of money getting everything made for you. Themed food is still achievable for the everyday mom who just wants to create something fun.
Ok, so you might not have the perfect looking decorated monster cookie, but you do end up with something that looks great at the same time as being really budget friendly.
Besides, kids love the simple stuff and I guarantee you that kids love these monster cookies.
Heck, why not even get the kids to make them. They are that easy to do!
So are you ready to make the easiest monster cookies ever?
Let’s get started.
Ingredients you will need to make Monster Cookies
- Chocolate chip cookies
- White chocolate melts
- Milk chocolate chips
These are no bake cookies because I used store bought cookies as the base. If you really want to make your own chocolate chip cookies then certainly go ahead and do so, but I find store bought ones to be pretty tasty and to be honest, they save a whole lot of time.
If I wasn’t preparing these monster cookies for a party, then I might make my own cookies, but when you have lots to organize, time is a premium.
So for the purpose of this tutorial, we are using store bought chocolate chip cookies.
5 Steps To The Best Monster Cookies
Step 1: If you have chosen to bake your own cookies, allow them to cool before decorating. Lay the cookies out on the worktop so that they can all be decorated easily.
Step 2: Melt a few of the white chocolate melts. You are using this chocolate to act as glue, so you really don’t need to melt much. 4 or 5 pieces should be plenty.
Step 3: Using white chocolate melts, place some melted chocolate onto the back of the melt and then stick this to the cookie.
You may choose to add one, two or three chocolate melts to the cookie, depending on the cookie size and how you would like your monsters to look.
Step 4: Using milk chocolate chips, stick them to the top of the white chocolate melts.
These don’t need to sit in the middle, in fact they look good placed anywhere on the chocolate melt to give a quirky monster looking eye.
Step 5: Leave the cookies to dry and you are done!
Did I not say that these were the easiest monster cookies?
They hardly take any time to make, but they are really effective and are great if you are trying to theme you food for a monster party.
These are the cookies that I used to create the eyes on my son’s birthday monster cake and they looked amazing sticking out the top of the monster’s head.
Once the cookies were completely dry, I turned them over and placed a cake pop stick onto the back. To fix the stick in place, I covered it with melted white chocolate. This acted as glue so that the cookie sat perfectly at the top of the cake pop stick.
If you wanted to, you could even turn all of the monster cookies into cookie pops. That would be a whole lot of fun too!
Regardless of how you choose to use them, they are super quick to whip together and something that the kids will find fun. You don’t really need to wait for a party to have them. These monster cookies could be just the thing to whip up with the kids on the weekend.
Have fun with them!

Thanks Carlee. My son loved the cookie pops that we used in his monster birthday cake. In fact they were the first thing he wanted to eat 🙂
