I just love party hats. I don’t think there is anything cuter than seeing a small child enjoying a birthday celebration whilst wearing a party hat.
It’s something we feel embarrassed by as adults, but kids? Well they just roll with the punches. They don’t care what they look like.
Generally speaking, if it’s fun, kids will participate in it. It’s a good trait to have.
For my son’s 2nd birthday we had a monster theme party. I made these monster party hats to give out to the kids as they were completing a treasure hunt around the garden. A bunch of 2-6 year old’s running around with monster party hats, it was simply adorable.
It was pretty hard to get any pictures as the kids wouldn’t stand still for more than 30 seconds, but I did grab this shot of my daughter and friend before they ran in the other direction.
Whilst themed party hats are a lot of fun, finding them to suit a particular theme can be quite hard. Plus, if you are lucky enough to find something suitable, they are likely to come with a rather hefty price tag. That’s not fun for anyone!
That’s the best thing about these monster party hats. You can simply purchase any ordinary colored hat and download the free printable to make them perfect for a monster party. Even if you don’t have any craft skills, you can’t go wrong with making these.
It’s so simple to do and it’s super cheap too. It’s a total win win don’t you think?
You can simply whip them up in front of the tv one night, so you don’t have to stress about them taking lots of time to complete.
The colors I used for my son’s party were blue, green and orange, so I designed printable’s to match. However, even if you are using different colors you can still use these printable’s for your monster party hats.
Whilst I coordinated the colors, you can be creative and use any color eye on any color hat. They are monster’s after all and they would look just as fun with a miss match of colors.
Supplies You Will Need To Make The Monster Party Hats
There are a few supplies that you will need to hand to be able to make the hats. But don’t worry, they are very simple.
- Plain colored party hats. Simply pick the colors that you would like to use for your party.
- Matte photo paper. I like to print onto matte photo paper for a higher quality print, but you can also just print onto plain white paper if you wish and simply set the printer to print at high quality.
- Scissors
- Glue Stick
How To Create The Monster Party Hats
Step 1: Choose the party hats that you would like to use. I used hats in three plain colors of blue, green and orange.
Step 2: Print off the monster eyes from the free printable library. Each of the eyes are different sizes. The blue eyes have two sizes and the orange and green have one size.
Print off as many color eyes as you wish. Each page is a different color so you only need to print the color that you wish to use.
Step 3: Cut out the eyes and decide how you would like them to be placed onto the hats.
Step 4: Once the eyes have all been cut out, simply use some glue and attach them to the hats.
Step 5: The monster party hats are complete and ready to use however you please.
It’s a totally simple craft to complete, but if you are holding a monster birthday, they will make an excellent addition to the party supplies.
Unfortunately I didn’t even get a photo of my son wearing his hat, but I did get one of one of his little friends rocking her’s.
Pretty darn cute don’t you think?
These simple monster party are perfect to make for your next monster bash and the fact that you can literally whip them up in one night at a low cost is even better.
Are you going to ask the kids to help you make them?
