Learn how to make an easy Marshall Paw Patrol Cake with a free cake topper image. Using buttercream and an edible image, this simple but cute homemade cake will be a delight for all Paw Patrol fans.
My son is a huge Paw Patrol fan. He absolutely loves Marshall, and when it came to his birthday he requested a Marshall Paw Patrol cake.
When I make cakes they have to be simple. I mean REALLY SIMPLE.
Whilst I would love to be totally creative when it comes to cake decorating, I know my limits, and those limits are not very high!
The last thing I want to be doing before my kids birthday is getting stressed over making their birthday cake. This type of birthday cake is currently sitting as my no fail easy cake.
How Do You Make An Easy Paw Patrol Cake?
I have started to follow a bit of a theme with my kids cakes. I bake a chocolate mud cake, then cover it with buttercream.
The one element that makes a themed cake super easy is…..wait for it….an edible image on the top!
Yes it really is that simple. An edible image makes all the difference when it comes to an amazing easy themed cake.
Trust me when I say this is easy. The great thing however (other than the taste) is that the cake always looks amazing, and the wide eyes from the kids makes it all worth while.
How Do You Decorate Your Paw Patrol Cake?
Once the cake is made, allow it to cool, then follow these steps for some easy decoration.
Step 1: Using a cake slicer, slice the top of the cake to make it flat. You want to make sure that the top of the cake is flat so that the topper sits on it nicely.
Step 2: Slice the cake in half and place some chocolate buttercream. This is optional, but we are chocolate freaks so the more chocolate flavoring the better!
Step 3: Cover the entire cake with buttercream. You will find that this layer looks a little messy, but don’t worry because this is just the ‘crumb layer’. Once the cake is fully covered, place it in the fridge for a couple of minutes.
Step 4: Now you will be applying your smooth final layer of buttercream. Use a spatula to ensure that it goes on smoothly.
Step 5: Once the cake has been fully covered, gently place the Paw Patrol topper on the top of the cake and smooth into place.
Step 6: Use silver sugar pearls and place around the entire cake topper. This gives it a nice finish.
Step 7: To decorate the sides of the cake, finish with red sugar pieces.
Your super simple but of course totally amazing Marshall Paw Patrol cake is now ready and waiting for the birthday child.

Whilst the initial design in the photos has my sons’s name and age included on it, I have changed it slightly so that it is available for you to use.
