If you have been following me for a while, you will know that I love to serve up chocolate popcorn at every one of my kids parties.
There are four simple reasons for this.
- It’s super easy to make (and I LOVE easy)
- It is a no bake treat (and we all love those!)
- The kids think it is amazing.
- When the kids arn’t watching the adults dig into it too!
The great thing is that it really doesn’t matter what type of party you are holding. It is so easy to tailor the popcorn to the theme of the party.
For instance, I have made chocolate popcorn for a monkey party, and I’ve also made monster popcorn and easy whhite chocolate popcorn for a Christmas party.
Each one has looked different, but each one is totally yummy too.
It’s the ultimate versatile party treat.
The rock star popcorn was made for my daughter’s rock star 7th birthday party, and it was an absolute hit.
The Perfect 3 Ingredient Treat
Three ingredients. That’s all it takes to make this amazing rock star popcorn.
Are you excited? You should be!
So, what are the 3 things you need?
- Packet of white chocolate melts
- Bag of popcorn
- Packet of Smarties, or M&M’s or chocolate drops. We chose pink and black to match the colors in my daughter’s party.
5 Steps to Magnificent Rock Star Popcorn
Step 1: Melt the white chocolate melts. I like to melt my chocolate in a bowl over a pan of water.
You can however melt in the microwave if you prefer.
Remember however to keep checking the chocolate as you don’t want it to over melt otherwise it will go clumpy.
Clumpy chocolate is to be avoided at all costs!
Step 2: Once the chocolate is completely melted, pour the popcorn into the chocolate and stir through thoroughly.
Step 3: Once the popcorn and the chocolate are thoroughly mixed, add a few of the smarties into the mix.
Don’t add too many as it will change the color of them when they become covered with chocolate.
I like to add a few to ensure that some stick, but I leave the majority to add on after.
Once you have added a few smarties, the mixture can now be poured onto a lined tray. Spread the popcorn out evenly.
Straight away, scatter the remaining smarties over the chocolate popcorn.
You want to do this as soon as possible so that the smarties stick as much as possible.
Step 4: Leave to set.
Once I had left the rock star popcorn out to set, I felt that it needed something a little bit extra. You know, it needed sparkle.
I had some silver sprinkle balls left over from making some rock star marshmallow pops, so they were the perfect final addition.
I simply sprinkled these over the popcorn and then left until it was completely dry.
Step 5: Once dry, crumble up the popcorn to how you would like to serve it.
At parties, I like to serve it in a large bowl and provide a serving spoon. The kids like helping themselves as it just adds to the fun.
Another option is to serve into muffin or ice cream holders.
I think you will agree that this rock star popcorn is totally the bomb. It looked amazing, it tasted sensational and it was literally whipped up in minutes. That’s definitely the kind of party treat that you want to keep in mind.
I certainly don’t have a lot of time to prepare party snacks for the kids, and I’m sure you are the same.
This popcorn will therefore be a winner time and time again.
Popcorn That Can Be Enjoyed At Any Time
Whilst this rock star popcorn was made for the specific purpose of the party, it doesn’t have to stay that way.
This would be the ultimate snack to make up for a night in front of the television, or as a sweet treat for the kids whilst playing in the garden.
Either way, it’s something a little bit different, and the kids will think you are extra amazing. It’s always nice to build up some brownie point’s isn’t it!
Give it a whirl and let me know what you think about it below.
