This time last year my daughter was finishing up her year at Kindergarten.
The year flew by so quickly and I really wasn’t prepared for her to walk out of Kindy and start school after Christmas. (Don’t get me started on not being prepared for her finishing her first year of Reception at school soon).
If you know of a way to slow down time (even for a little bit), then please let me know!
I also wasn’t prepared for the kindergarten end of year bake sale. All the parents were asked to contribute something that could be sold at the sale in individual portions.
Between juggling a 7 month old baby, preparing for Christmas and working on this site, I didn’t feel like I had a lot of time to spare. I
needed something that was quick to make, and something I knew would sell like hot cakes.
Being time poor, especially at this time of year is certainly not a problem unique to me. Pretty much every mom I know would say the exact same thing.
The answer to my dilemma and to your’s is however pretty simple.

How do you make white chocolate popcorn?
Making white chocolate popcorn is really a lot easier than you might think. Once you have made it once, it is going to be on your hit list for every social event that includes kids.
Trust me, this is not something that you want to miss out on.
For a no bake simple snack that requires few ingredients, white chocolate popcorn really has it covered.
What do you need to make it?
That’s it. We are talking seriously easy stuff here!
6 easy steps to the only bake sale recipe you will ever need
Step 1: Empty your popcorn into a bowl.
Step 2: Melt the white chocolate over the stove or in a microwave.
Tip: Make sure that NO water comes into contact with your chocolate. If it does, it will turn gluggy and you won’t be able to use it. Follow this easy tutorial to make sure that you get it right every single time.
Step 3: Pour the melted chocolate over the popcorn and mix in well.
Step 4: To give the white chocolate popcorn a festive look, I decided to add some red and green M&M’s. Simply throw as many as you like into the bowl and give it a mix.
If you would prefer the M&M’s to have a brighter look, then you can always add them after the chocolate has set around the popcorn.
Step 5: Place some parchment paper onto a baking tray and spread out the white chocolate popcorn. It will take a few hours to dry, so be patient before spooning the popcorn into individual cases.
If transferred too soon it will end up as one big ball of popcorn. Not a problem if you want to make chocolate popcorn balls, but not great for this purpose.
Step 6: Once the popcorn is dry, simply divide it between some cupcake cases. Now you are ready to take to the school bake sale or Christmas party.
If you didn’t include the M&M’s in the initial mix, do it now before you spoon the popcorn into individual serves.
How far in advance can you make chocolate covered popcorn?
This is a question that is repeatedly asked and the answer often surprises people.
White chocolate popcorn tastes better the sooner that it is made. However, it does keep for a surprisingly long time if necessary.
To ensure it remains fresh, place it in an air tight container.
I often make white chocolate popcorn for the kids birthday parties, and any left over’s have always lasted for 3-4 days afterwards.
The only reason we have it lying around a long time is because I always over cater and we have so many other sweet things to also consume. On any normal occasion the chocolate popcorn would be gone in two minutes flat.
So you can thank my over catering for knowing the answer to this question!
If however you are making the white chocolate popcorn for a special occasion then it would be best to make only 1-2 days in advance to ensure that it is as fresh as possible.
I like to make it the day before the event to ensure that it tastes as good as it possibly can.
But really….how long will this Christmas white chocolate popcorn REALLY last in your house?
