Read on for the full tutorial for these super awesome Spiderman marshmallow pops.
Ingredients You Will Need
Spiderman marshmallow pops are super easy to make with just a few ingredients. That makes them even more awesome right?
Simply gather the following ingredients:
- Bag of marshmallows
- White chocolate melts OR colored candy melts
- Food coloring of choice (non-water based) if using white chocolate melts.
- Red and blue colored edible gel pens
- Cake pop sticks
Required Preparation
The first thing that needs to be done is to gather all the ingredients together and set them up ready.
You want to ensure that everything is easy to hand so you can grab what you need quickly.
Whilst these marshmallow pops are easy to make, they will become fiddly if you have to keep stopping to grab the ingredients that you need.
To prepare, line a baking tray with parchment paper. Have the marshmallows standing with the largest section on the bottom, and have the cake pop sticks easily accessible.
Once you have laid everything out, you are good to start.
How To Make Spiderman Marshmallow Pops
Step 1: Melt the chocolate of your choice. This can either be the white chocolate melts or the colored melts.
Melting the chocolate can be undertaken either in the microwave or over the stove.
My personal choice is over the stove as I like to keep an eye on the chocolate as it melts. If chocolate is allowed to melt too much then it can go clumpy.
Whatever method is chosen to melt the chocolate, it is very important that water or steam does not come into contact with the chocolate at any time.
Water and chocolate is not a good combination and your beautifully melted chocolate will turn into one big clump!
Step 2: If you decided to use the red or blue candy melts then pop straight down to step 3. White chocolate melts will however now need to be changed color to red and blue.
Separate the chocolate into two different bowls. One bowl will be turned blue and the other will be turned red.
An easier option however would be to make one color at a time. For example make a batch of red marshmallow pops first, then repeat the entire process to make blue ones.
It may seem like this is a longer way around of doing things, but it’s actually quicker as you don’t need to be worrying about the chocolate setting before you have the time to make the pops.
NOTE: It is VERY important that you do not use water based food coloring otherwise do you know what happens? Yep, you guessed it. Clumpy chocolate!
Ensure that you use oil based food coloring to avoid any problems. If you are a bit unsure, follow these tips for how to turn white chocolate into colored chocolate. Ensure that you use enough coloring to create an intense color that will stand out on the food table.
Step 3: Now the melted chocolate is the color you want it, you can start to put the marshmallow pops together.
Take a cake pop stick and dip the end it into the chocolate. Then place the stick straight into the top middle of the marshmallow.
Step 4: Cover the marshmallow completely with chocolate.
The easiest way to cover the marshmallow is to use a spoon and pour the chocolate over it.
If you try and dip the marshmallow into the chocolate, there is a possibility that the marshmallow will fall off the stick and you end up in a huge mess.
As the chocolate is spooned over the marshmallow, ensure that the stick is continually turned to make sure that the entire marshmallow is covered.
Then gently tap the stick on the edge of the bowl to remove any excess chocolate.
Step 5: Once the marshmallow is covered in chocolate it needs to be immediately placed on the lined baking tray. Leave until the chocolate has completely set.
Step 6: Repeat the process with the other color chocolate.
Step 7: Once the chocolate has completely set, it is time to draw on the webbing over the marshmallow pop. This is simply achieved using red and blue edible pens.
Draw the blue lines over the red pops and the red lines over the blue pops.
Simply draw squiggly lines over the entire marshmallow and then again leave to set.
Step 8: Cut out one of the Spiderman cupcake toppers and attach with a small piece of tape to the cake pop stick.
Adding a simple topper is a lot easier than trying to create Spiderman’s face or some other fiddly design onto the marshmallow.
The Spiderman marshmallow pops are now ready to be featured at the party.
Creating themed party food is always a lot of fun and it’s great to see it all come together on the day.
It’s simple to do, but makes a huge difference to creating the overall theme of the party.
