I remember the first time that I decided to do some Christmas baking with my daughter. I had visions of us singing along to Christmas carols, laughing and joking in the kitchen and ending up with some gorgeous looking Christmas treats. Just like you see in the movies.
The reality? Well it was somewhat different.
The baking went everywhere. Her attention span didn’t last long enough to see the baking come out the oven and the cheer? Well, that fell flat on it’s face too. The reality didn’t quite meet up to my expectations.
What I have realized is that with young children, it is best to just skip the baking part completely and get straight into the decorating! This reduces the stress, keeps the kids attention and everyone ends up happy at the end of it.
These melted snowman cookies are simply perfect for that.
Only a few ingredients are required and they take no time at all to make, which is perfect for little kids.
The even better part is that you don’t have to worry about meeting those high expectations you have set after watching the movies, because they don’t need to look neat to still look good.
Besides, what melted snowman do you know of who looks his best?
So this holiday season, keep things simple! And there is nothing quite as simple as these adorable snowmen cookies.
A pre-made cookie, melted chocolate, a marshmallow head and edible icing. The kids will have so much fun making these.
Easy Snowman Cookies
When it comes to baking treats over Christmas we want them to be easy. Mom’s have enough to do at that time of the year without making life extra difficult for themselves.
Whilst it is a lot of fun to be making festive treats, it can honestly be time consuming. So what’s better than making a snowman cookie? That’s right, a melted snowman cookie.

Melted Snowman Cookies in 4 Easy Steps
These cute cookies can be created in 4 simple steps.
Step 1: Open a packet of plain premade cookies. The type of cookies you use really doesn’t matter too much here.
It is best to keep them plain if possible, but chocolate chip cookies would also work well. Just choose a cookie you know the kids will enjoy.
Lay them out on the table or a wire rack so that they are easy to decorate.
If you are however keen to make your own cookies, then this easy shortbread cookie recipe would be perfect.
Step 2: Use melted white chocolate and spread it all over the top of each cookie.
Tip: Melted chocolate does not mix with water. You can therefore either melt it in the microwave or in a dish over a saucepan of water.
Step 3: Add a white marshmallow to act as a head. Place marshmallow at the middle top of the cookie and press it gently into the chocolate.
Step 4: Using an edible fudge pen (and a steady hand), draw black icing on the face, arms, little hands and a scarf. I used the fudge pen to draw on buttons, but you could also use mini m&m for this purpose.
Place the cookies in a single layer onto a baking tray. Line the baking tray with parchment paper and leave the cookies at room temperature to fully set
That’s it, you are done. The result is a cheeky looking bunch of melted snowman cookies. Don’t you just love them!
Store the cookies in an airtight container once they have fully set. The marshmallows might go hard, so they are best eaten within 3-4 days.
