Whilst you can obtain many specific ladybug party supplies, it is still possible to use generic party decorations if you choose to. This is especially great if you are planning a last minute birthday party.
By sticking with just a couple of colors such as black, white and red, you can create a ladybug party that looks fabulous and also takes little effort.
Party Backdrop:
An easy way to create an instant visual impact is to create a party backdrop. The backdrop can be used behind the food table or as a separate photo booth area.
Whilst a lot of money can be spent on a backdrop, it is also possible to create one at little cost using products from the local dollar store.
A party backdrop using just white, black and red tablecloths would look adorable.
Ladybug Balloon:
You have the option to use either specific lady bug balloons or just stick to the 3 colors.
The balloons could either be plain, polkadot or have actual ladybugs printed on them. All these options would look great.
Balloons are fantastic for providing an instant pop of color and are easy to coordinate. Balloons are great for placing all around a party area.
If you would like to have ladybug balloons but can’t find any to buy, then you can easily create them yourself.
Simply purchase some red balloons and when they have been blown up, add some little black stickers to them. You then have yourself instant ladybug balloons.
Tissue Paper Pom Poms:
Tissue paper pom poms are another easy and effective party decoration. They are easily made and can be used to decorate ceilings, doorways and more.
Keep them in the same colors as the balloons and the party backdrop and they will look great.
Streamers:
Red and black streamers is another easy and simple party decoration.
Use them to decorate any areas that need a bit of extra color.
And don’t forget that you can also just place lots of little cute ladybugs around the party area which will all help to add to the party decor.
Ladybug Party Food
The star of any food table has to be the birthday cake.
A ladybug cake is also relatively simple to make. Its cute and it’s fun. When something is easy to make it’s a total winner.
Whilst it’s sometimes fun to create party food that matches the theme of the party, you really don’t have to.
There are a lot of awesome kids party recipes that are ideal to use regardless of the theme being held.
If you wanted to try and theme the food without too much fuss you could simply stick to particular colored food.
For example, ensure as much red and black food as possible. For example, this can easily be achieved by using red sprinkles on fairy bread or black of red frosting on cupcakes with the opposite color for the cupcake case.
Round sugar cookies could be baked covered in red icing and then back dots.
Sometimes the simple food is the best food and you really don’t need to make things too complicated.
Ladybug Party Games And Activities
There are a lot of fun games that can be played at parties. They can be themed but again they don’t have to be.
A lot of kids party games can however be tailored to a theme if you wish them to be.
Use some of these ladybug games to get you started.
Pin The Spot On The Ladybug:
Yes you guessed it. This game is literally the same as pin the tail on the donkey. But it’s a variation for all the little ladybugs fans. It’s very simple to play.
Create a large picture of a ladybug, and draw on one spot.
Give each of the children their own black spot (the same size as the drawn one) and ask them to try and place the spot onto the one drawn.
The child who has the closest spot is the winner.
Lady, Lady, Bug:
Another game that is tailored to a ladybug party. This is the same game as duck duck goose.
Children need to sit in a circle with one child still standing.
That child walks around the circle tapping the heads of each child whilst saying “lady”. As soon as the child says “bug”, they have to run around the circle chased by the child that was sitting down.
If the child sitting down catches the tapper then the tapper has to go again. If however the tapper sits down in the empty space before being caught, then the child still standing becomes the new tapper.
Hot Ladybug:
Do you know the game hot potato? This is the same except you use a ladybug instead of a potato.
The ladybug could either be a soft toy, or a red bean bag with black spots glued on.
Get the children to sit in a circle and pass the ladybug around the circle as the music plays. When the music stops, the child holding the ladybug is out and play resumes again.
Ladybug Spots:
Have six large spots placed on the ground. Play some music and have the children run around.
When the music stops they have to run to one of the spots.
The game can then be played 2 ways.
1) The dice is rolled. All the children on that spot are “out”.
2) The dice is rolled. All the children on that spot have to do an action such as 10 star jumps or 10 push ups.
Ladybug Pinata:
Kids love pinatas. Obtain a ladybug pinata and fill it with lots of different candy treats.
Ladybug Hunt:
Prior to the party obtain lots of toy ladybugs and scatter them around the yard and party area.
Then send the kids on a ladybug hunt to see whether they can find them all.
Ladybug Craft Station:
A craft station is a great idea for younger children’s parties. The children can make some adorable ladybugs either as a party activity, or as something to keep the children occupied whilst waiting for everyone to arrive.
Include all the elements that you need for children to create their own little ladybugs.
For instance, cut out a red ladybug body from red construction paper or have toilet rolls that can be painted or colored.
Have little black stickers for the spots and pipe cleaners for the antennas.
Also have some little wobby eyes, plus glue and glitter.
Why the glitter? Well why not!
Ladybug Coloring Sheets:
Coloring sheets are another great option for younger children.
Print off some ladybug coloring sheets and place on a table with a tub of coloring pencils.
This is a great activity for the start or end of a party.
Ladybug Party Favors
It’s pretty common for children to be given party bags as they leave the party.
There are numerous things that can be included in these party bags and they don’t have to all be ladybug related.
It is totally fine to include lots of fun favors that don’t have anything to do with ladybugs.
However if you would like to fill the goody bag with ladybug themed favors then some fun ideas include:
Instead of a favor bag, another adorable idea to send each of the kids home with one of their own ladybugs.
Who can resist a cuddly toy after all!
