If you don’t know how to make one of these beautiful flower pom pom’s, don’t worry, I have an easy tutorial for you to follow.
Items You Will Need For The Tissue Paper Pom Pom Tutorial
You really don’t need to use many items to make these amazing pom pom’s. Simply grab the following;
- Tissue paper (color of your choice) You will need to use 8 sheets of tissue paper to make one pom pom.
- String
- Scissors
The Step by Step Tissue Paper Pom Pom Tutorial
Step 1: Lay your tissue paper out with the sheets neatly placed on top of each other.
Step 2: Fold your tissue paper in an accordion. Fold from the smaller side of the tissue paper. Make sure that your folds are about 3.5cm wide and that each fold is the same width.
To do this, you make one fold, flip the whole stack over and make another fold….flip and so on.
You get the point!
Don’t worry if you have some spare paper at the end that is not 3.5 cm wide. Fold it anyway and it will still work fine.
Step 3: Once your entire tissue paper has been folded, grab your sting and tie it around the center.
Step 4: For this tutorial I cut the edge of the tissue paper into a curve for a more feminine and flowery look, but you can also cut into a point for a dramatic/bold look. The choice is yours.
Make sure you cut each end of the tissue paper (in the same way!).
Don’t get too caught up on making this cut perfect, as the finished product will still look great.Step 5: Get out your steady and gentle hands before you start the next step. Be warned that tissue paper tears very easily!
It’s now time to start the fluffing!!
Step 6: Start by unfolding one side before you start on the other, and gently pull apart the individual tissue sheets. Take this step slowly to avoid it tearing.
To get the fluff effect, make sure you get right into the centre and separate the tissue. If you do this gently, holding the pom pom with two fingers at the middle, you will be fine!
Step 7: You have your completed pom pom! Keep fluffing it until you get the desired look.
I think you will agree that they will look great hanging up at your party.
Hang them with either clear thread or a ribbon, both will look good. Just tie the thread/ribbon to the end of your string and hang from the ceiling with a pushpin.
Try hanging them at different heights to create a stunning effect.
For different size pom poms, just cut the tissue paper at the start to a smaller size and follow the steps as usual.
All you need to do now is enjoy your pom pom!
Tissue paper poms poms are prefect for party decoration. However, if you use another budget material such as plastic tablecloth’s, you can also use them for purposes that require a bit more strength.
