This teddy bears picnic party is well overdue a feature. It was held last November with my mother’s group for our kids’ joint second birthday.
We had to have a party that was suitable for both genders and the teddy bear theme was perfect.
Each of the children brought their own teddy bear to the party, and they all sat on a picnic rug with their teddies whilst enjoying their treats.
Teddy Bears Picnic Party Decoration:
The decoration kept to the classic style of red and white, but instead of check squares we decided to go with polka dots, purely because it was a lot easier to find cupcake cases with dots than squares!!
The printables were made to match and I’m really pleased with how they turned out.
The incorporation of the yellow was used to add another dimension and also to link in with the little bees that we used as favors. It is very common to see a bee around the teddy whilst he has his paw dipped in a pot of honey after all!
The table was set up with two wicker picnic baskets, teddies and some helium balloons (just enough for each child to take one home). Twine was used to hold up the banner and also to tie on the party favors and milk and jelly tops.
We thought it would be lovely to have a photo of all the kids in front of the table display with their teddy bears.
How wrong were we!
Trying to get 6 toddlers, and their teddies all in one place looking at the camera at the same time, was virtually impossible. This was the best we could do in a bad situation….lol
Teddy Bears Picnic Party Food:
The food for the teddy bears picnic party was kept simple and tasty, and consisted of food that you would expect to see at a picnic. Savouries included Vegemite sandwiches, pizza slices and quiches, with desserts including teddy bear cars, teddy cookies and chocolates, fruit baskets, jelly, and of course a teddy bear cake!
For drinks, the kids all had a water bottle with a printable containing their name and a small bottle of milk.
To include all the children in the “Happy Birthday” for the cake, we literally placed the cake in the middle of the children and gave them their own own candle to blow out. This made them all feel included and there were no arguments.
It was so successful, they even asked us to do it twice. Well….you can’t sing happy birthday too many times can you!

Teddy Bears Picnic Party Favors:
Before the party, all the children had pulled a name out of the hat to buy a gift for one other child. This meant they were not inundated with gifts and it was a lot kinder on the wallet for us mums!
Whilst the party was for ‘all’ the kids, we still wanted to give them a small party favor to take away. These bee pin wheels were perfect which we bought for $1 from KMart.
A cute thank you favor tag was attached to each pin wheel. The pin wheels doubled up as decoration during the party and were stood at the back of the food table.
This teddy bears party was an absolute hit with the kids and it was a lot of fun to organize. It was quite hectic with both toddlers and teddies, but teddy bears are fun and loveable and that was what this party was all about.
All the printables from this party can be obtained in our Etsy store.
What do you think of this teddy bears party? Would this be a hit with your kids?
