Marshmallow pops have become a staple party food in my house. My daughter absolutely loves them, and she asks me to make them every single time we have a party.

The great thing about them is that they are super easy to make, which is a huge plus for me! They can also be easily tailored to suit any party theme by simply switching the colors or adding other small decorative items.

I wanted to create some monkey pops for my son’s first birthday party. The easiest way to do this, was to make them from chocolate covered marshmallow pops.

I absolutely love how they turned out.

They were SO incredibly easy to make and they looked super cute. I would say that they were almost too cute to eat, but guests clearly didn’t agree as they disappeared almost instantly!

The great thing about these monkey pops is that you really don’t need to be artistic in the kitchen.  If I can make them, then trust me you can too!

Easy and simple is my motto. Anything remotely complicated doesn’t even get a look in when I am in party preparation mode!

5 Easy Steps To Making Super Cute Monkey Pops

Are you ready to make your super cute monkey pops?

Follow these 5 easy steps and you will soon be having those adorable faces staring right back at you!

Step 1: Melt the chocolate. The chocolate can either be melted in a pan on the stove or in the microwave.  Ensure however that you do not allow any water condensation to touch the chocolate otherwise it will turn lumpy.

Melt chocolate over the stove

Step 2: Place the marshmallows in a bowl, and set aside some cake pop sticks easy to hand. You want to ensure that these are easy to grab when you need them.

Step 3: Dip the end of the cake pop stick into the melted chocolate. Place the end of the stick that has the chocolate on it into the middle of a marshmallow.

You could skip this step, but I personally find that the chocolate helps the marshmallow stick to the cake pop stick.

Dip the stick into the chocolate

Step 4: Completely cover the marshmallow with chocolate and put aside to harden. Rather than dipping the marshmallow into the chocolate, I find it easier to hold the marshmallow over the bowl and then spoon the chocolate right over the top.

This way you will have less chance of the marshmallow melting from the heat of the chocolate or the marshmallow falling off the stick into the chocolate!

It’s simple and quick using a spoon, so this is the method that I now use.

Once you are confident that the marshmallow is completely covered in chocolate, you can stand the stick onto a tray lined with grease proof paper. The tray an be placed in the fridge if you wish it to harden quicker.

Repeat the process until you have made as many Monkey pops as you need.

Step 5: Once the marshmallow pops have harden you can now turn them into looking more like the monkey pops they are meant to be. This is also the fun part as you see your creation come to life!

Print The Monkey Heads For The Finished Look

To complete step 5, you will need to print off the sheet of the monkey heads. These are available from the free printable library. Carefully cut out as many as you need.

Don’t worry about cutting them exactly on the line. They will work perfectly fine still leaving a bit of white edging around the picture.

With a small piece of double sided sticky tape, attach the monkey head to the cake pop stick. You can use the marshmallow as a base for the monkey head to stand on.

Place monkey heads on stick

Repeat the process until all the monkey pops have a body and a head.

One of the things that I love about marshmallow pops is that you can create the look of cake pops very simply but without all the extra fuss.

This is great if you love marshmallows, but if not, then you might need to stick to the traditional cake pop.

If therefore you would like to make a traditional cake pop, then there is an easy monkey cake pop tutorial that you can follow.
