My son requested a fireman party for this 4th birthday.

This party was a LOT of fun and a themed birthday party always allows for some cool fun food to be made. These fireman marshmallow pops were one of them and the birthday boy was very happy.

They look like fireman cake pops, but are actually made with marshmallows instead of cake batter.

This means they are a lot easier to make. It is a huge bonus when you have so many other things to do.

Great balls of fireman marshmallow pops

Marshmallow pops are always a big hit at kids parties and the fact that they are easy to make makes them a fun way to add another themed element to the party table with little effort.

They would also be great to add to a goodie bag and have the kids take them home.

The fact that you can make a huge batch at one time makes them versatile to split between the food table and the party favor bags.

Whether you want to call them balls of fire, or a mini fire hydrant, these marshmallow pops are going to look FAB!

Ingredients Required

Only a few ingredients are required to make fireman marshmallow pops, which makes them even more awesome!

The following ingredients are required:

  • Bag of marshmallows
  • White chocolate melts OR red colored candy melts
  • Red food coloring (non-water based) if using white chocolate melts.
  • Orange and yellow sprinkles
  • Cake pop sticks

Preparation Is Key!

Making marshmallow pops is pretty easy and straight forward, however if you havn’t taken the time to get everything prepared, then you can find yourself in a sticky mess pretty quickly.

You want to ensure that you can grab everything that you need quickly and easily.

Ensure that you have a lined baking tray with parchment paper ready to place the marshmallow pops onto.

Place the marshmallows onto your work space with the largest section on the bottom.

Have the cake pop sticks easily accessible.

Have a bowl filled with sprinkles and another empty bowl next to it.

Once you have laid everything out, you are good to start putting something fun together for your themed party.

How To Make Fireman Marshmallow Pops

Step 1: Melt the chocolate.

You may choose to melt either red colored melts of white chocolate melts which you will later color.

Melt the chocolate either in the the microwave or over the stove.

I personally prefer to melt the chocolate over the stove. Whatever method is chosen, it is very important that water or steam does not come into contact with the chocolate at any time, otherwise it will turn into a clumpy mess very quickly.

Step 2: Make the chocolate red.

If you decided to use red candy melts then pop straight down to step 3.

White chocolate melts will however now need to be changed color to red.

NOTE: It is VERY important that you do not use water based food coloring. A water based coloring mixed with chocolate will quickly result in clumpy chocolate! That will be a disaster for your marshmallow pops.

Step 3: Place the stick into the marshmallow.

Once you have red melted chocolate, it is time to put the marshmallow pops together.

Take a cake pop stick and dip the end it into the chocolate. Then place the stick straight into the top middle of the marshmallow.

Step 4: Cover the marshmallow with chocolate.

The easiest way to cover the marshmallow is to use a spoon and pour the chocolate over it.

If you try and dip the marshmallow into the chocolate, there is a possibility that the marshmallow will fall off the stick and you end up in a huge mess.

Continually turn the stick whilst covering the marshmallow with chocolate to ensure that the entire marshmallow is covered.

Then gently tap the stick on the edge of the bowl to remove any excess chocolate.

Step 5: Cover with sprinkles.

Have your sprinkles ready in a bowl. Hold the marshmallow pop over another empty bowl (in case any chocolate drips) and using a spoon cover the marshmallow with the sprinkles.

The empty bowl helps to catch the sprinkles that don’t stick, which you can pour back into the sprinkles bowl and use again!

Step 6: Leave to set.

Place your marshmallow pop onto a lined baking tray at room temperature and leave to dry.

The great thing about marshmallow pops is that they don’t even need to look identical or be in perfect condition. When they are all put together on a plate they always look amazing.

These fireman marshmallow pops would be a great addition to any fireman birthday party or a fire truck theme party.

They look great on the food table, are super easy to make and the kids love to eat them.
