The following Easter table is brought to us by contributor Alice from Styled-It.

The Easter tables is inspired by the subtle reminders of spring and new beginnings. This muted pastel palette with earthy undertones has a simple casual elegance that makes celebrations beautiful yet relaxed.

This tutorial includes detailed step by step direction to complete the look for your Easter table.

The tutorial is divided into three parts:

1. Tableware

2 .Centerpiece and table decor

3 Paper goods

An Elegant Easter Table With The Perfect Tableware

Materials used:

  • Tablecloth
  • 18″ napkins
  • Vintage chargers
  • Cream colored dinner plates
  • Top plate
  • Wine or water goblets
  • Flatware
Easter table crockery

For this Easter table I used a vintage metal charger that was just perfect for this look. These were purchased at Sur La Table.

I chose cream colored ceramic plates with an embossed trim. I also used 2 two different plate patterns. I prefer to combine white linen with cream dishes for a more natural look. All white is often too stark and all cream can have a lack luster effect.

I used a white linen tablecloth that was laundered and line dried (not ironed) for a more weathered look. Chargers where aligned with the edge of the table.

Plates were placed on top of chargers.

Place the plates in position

Place top plate on top of dinner plate – I used a pale slate blue glazed ceramic plate for color.

Fold the napkins for a beautiful Easter table

I used 18” matching linen napkins also line dried – not ironed. Fold napkin in half as shown in illustration #1

Next bring over a 1 ½” cuff from center crease, and smooth down with your hand to keep the fold in place. This will make a pocket to insert a menu card.

Next carefully holding the pocket in place fold napkin in half again crosswise.

Fold napkin crosswise one more time. You now have a folded napkin that you can insert a menu into it. Depending on the size of your menu card you may need to adjust the cuff width of your napkin.

Easter Table Menu

Prepare your menu card – I used the “Our Table” printable collection from the Olice Etsy store.

Insert card in pocket and place napkin and menu card on top of each plate

Easter table preparation

Place silverware and wine or water goblets on table. Remember “knife right” and forks to the left.

Choose An Earthy Centrepiece And Pretty Table Decor

Materials used:

• An earthy 10″-12” tall vase with an opening of at least 5″
• 10-12 Brown thin branches or twigs 16”- 18” in length
• 1 dozen stems of pink spray roses
• 1 dozen pale champagne carnations- I used the “Vintage” variety
• Green moss
• Scissors
• Floral tape
• White egg cup or small white vase
• Fresh brown eggs or faux eggs, I used Gourd Nest Eggs for a more earthy touch

Flower arrangement for an Easter Table

Rinse all flowers, layout on a flat surface then fill a vase with water and insert twigs in a free form style.

Trim together 3 carnations with slightly different lengths and secure together using floral tape. Make sure to keep the bottom of the stems even thus keeping the height variations at the flower heads – this will give your flowers a more natural uncontrived appearance.

The tallest flower should be approx. 3”-4” inches from the rim of vase and the shortest should be level with the rim. Make 3 of these bundles. This will leave 3 remaining single carnations; cut these in slightly varying heights as well.

Next place the 3 taped bundles in the vase perimeter, spacing them out evenly. Lastly add the 3 single carnations in between the carnations to fill in open spaces. Make sure arrangement remains loose for a natural feel.

Divide spray roses into 3 bunches of 4 stems each. Cut the first bunch approximately the same height as the carnations and cut the second bunch approximately 3”-4” inches taller than the carnations.

Trim the last bunch of spray roses to be slightly taller than branches. Do not tape together as you will insert each of these as individual stems. Spray roses have several flowers per stem; therefore it’s important to measure height by using the tallest flower on the stem as a guide.

Simple flower centrepieces

Tuck the moss around the perimeter of the vase, using enough moss to create a cascading effect as shown.

Place the shortest bunch of Spray rose stems individually around the perimeter of vase tucking in between carnation bundles.

Place the second bunch (middle height) in the vase midway from the rim to the center of the vase in a circular fashion in-between branches leaving space in between flowers.

Add the last (tall) bunch in the center area of the vase. Now you can make adjustments to your arrangement if needed. Set arrangement in center of table.

Moss styling

You will need an egg, a cup and moss for each place setting.

Tuck moss liberally in egg cup leaving plenty of moss hanging over edges and insert an egg in the cup making sure it is sitting in the cup.

These will each be placed on the top right hand side of each place setting.

Prepare The Finishing Touches With Small Party Goods

Materials needed:

  • Menu cards
  • Place cards
  • Small paper boxes
  • Favor for boxes
  • Raffia
  • Green moss
  • Scissors
  • Banner – Optional
  • Ribbon or raffia for hanging banner – Optional
  • Tape
Name cards for an Easter table

Place a special favor in each favor box. I like to use seasonal artisan chocolates. Attach place cards with guest name on top of each box and secure with tape.

Wrap raffia around each box making sure not to cover guest name. Secure with a bow and tuck in a piece of moss.

Now place the little favor/place card to the bottom right of each place setting, slightly angled and resting on edge of charger.

Easter table with an Easter banner above it

Using a banner is optional but can add a bit of whimsy to a holiday table- I used a coordinating banner from the “Our Table” collection from the Olice  shop on Etsy.

Easter Invitation

Set the tone with a coordinating invitation. I used the “Our Table” collection invite.
