The following recipe will be enough to make a gorgeous Irish lamb stew for 4 people.

If you are holding a dinner party for St Patrick’s day, simply multiply the ingredients  according to the number of guests you are expecting. 

Irish Lamb Stew Recipe

Delicious traditional Irish Lamb stew recipe that is perfect to use at your St Patrick’s day celebrations. Splash it up with a bit of Guinness for an extra Irish touch or add some red wine for a sophisticated flair. Slow cook this stew to perfection and serve for the whole family to enjoy.

Ingredients

• 1lb/500g mutton or lamb cutlets (bone removed) cut into 2″/5cm chunk
• • 2lb/ 1 kg potatoes, peeled and cut into quarters
• • 1 cup/115g onion, roughly chopped
• • 1 cup/ 100g leeks, cleaned and finely sliced
• • 1 cup/170g carrots, roughly chopped
• • 1½ pints / 750 ml dark beef stock
• • 2 or 3 cabbage leaves, thinly sliced (optional)
• • Salt, Pepper and Rosemary

Instructions

1. In a large frying pan heat half the oil and add half the lamb pieces. Once the lamb has browned, remove and place in a large saucepan. Cover with a half of the potatoes, onions, leeks and carrots.
2. : Add the remaining oil to the frying pan, heat again then add the remaining lamb and brown all over. Add to the saucepan and cover with the remaining vegetables.
3. : Add the stock, and cook for 1 hour. Add the cabbage (if using) and cook for another hour.
4. : Check from time to time to make sure the stock isn’t reducing too much, if it is add a little boiling water. The meat and vegetables should always be covered by liquid. If the sauce is too runny at the end, cook a little longer with the lid removed.
5. : Season with salt, pepper and rosemary, according to your taste. Serve with Rosemary as garnish.

With simple ingredients and a one pot meal deal, this is going to be the perfect dinner to serve for a St Patrick’s day celebration (or just for a hearty winter warmers meal).

1. I can either say yes and then regret it 5 minutes later as each task takes me a million times longer than it would have done on my own.
2. Or I say no. Then I am left to deal with a sad child who just wants to help and is bored from being shoved out the way all the time.

I know the struggle. Trying to get my 3 year old son to use crayons is like pulling teeth. He simply does not want a bar of them. He see’s his big sister using coloring pens and that is exactly what he wants to use.

No fear though as there is always a solution to the problem.

If the kids love to use coloring pens then simply use some washable ones. That way regardless if they get a little bit excited and end up getting some on their clothes, it easily washes out.

As for crayons, there are good crayons and there are bad crayons.

Have you ever tried coloring with a bad crayon? I have, and it’s a nightmare.

The color never goes on smoothly as it’s supposed to, and if I can become frustrated I can understand why the young kids do.

So if I use crayons, I ALWAYS use crayola ones. Simply because I have always found them to be enjoyable to color with. The colors are always nice and bright too, which is a plus.

The silly scents have been included because kids GO NUTS over scented pens. It makes them 110% more attractive than a normal pen (speaking from experience with kids who are addicted to coloring with pens).

My husband used to brew his own beer. 

This was in a time before we had kids, when we actually had the room to store all the equipment needed to undertake the brewing process. When we finally get around to moving to a bigger house, I’m sure he will want to start doing it again (but moving is a whole different story).

But it did get me thinking. 

Not that you really need an occasion as such to make your own homebrew, but if you did need one, the perfect time would be for St Patrick’s day.

Beer has to be the most common drink consumed on St Patrick’s day, and what perfect opportunity to spark some creativity.

But, why does the creativity have to stop there. The one let down with homebrew is that the bottles always look so boring!

Not now!

4 Easy Steps For Using The St Patrick’s Day Beer Labels

Have you ever used your own beer labels before? 

If not, there is no need to stress because it is SUPER EASY!

If you can make your own beer, then you can definitely add your own labels!

Perhaps it’s your husband that makes the beer? 

Well, print them off for him, and gently suggest to him that this would be the perfect finishing touch. You will be SO pleased that you did!

So, what do you need to do?

Step 1: Obtain The Beer Labels

Download the file and save it to your computer.

Step 2: Print The Labels

Print onto matte photo paper or a photo paper with a low gloss. 

Cut them out individually.  

There are 6 designs available and each label is sized 7 x 14cm.

Please note that these labels are designed to fit on the front of the beer bottle. They do NOT go all the way around the bottle like a water bottle label would do.

Step 3: Attach The Labels

If using pre-made beer you will first need to remove the existing labels. If you have a particularly stubborn label, simple use some warm water and a scourer to remove the sticky glue.

Once the beer bottles are completely dry, the new labels can be attached using a double sided sticky tape.

Step 4: Enjoy!

Enjoy not only the DIY beer, but also the DIY beer labels!

The labels are designed to sit on the front of the beer bottle, just as you would expect from a normal beer label.
