If there was ever a time to make a homemade gift for mom it would be now. With half the shops closed, online delivery taking forever and a huge reluctance to take the kids anywhere near the shops, we need to think outside the box.
There are plenty of homemade gifts that the kids could make for mother’s day, such as these delightful handprint crafts. I personally love the idea of anything that includes my kids hands. They grow so quickly and this is the perfect way to keep a treasured memory of how small they once were.
But…and this is a BIG but. Dad is in charge of organizing it!
That’s where we can hit a stumbling block isn’t it.
Whilst you could send a link to dad with ideas of gifts to make, it is relying on the fact that dad is the kind of dad to get crafty. Or relying on the fact that dad will remember he needs to get crafty.
Dad will however need to be reminded that there wont be mother’s day gifts coming home from school this year!
Older siblings can of course help out younger ones, but aside from that, mother’s day craft could possibly rely on you making the gift with the kids yourself.
This could be a wonderful treasured memory in itself, but if you would like a bit of a surprise, it’s not really the best option.
An Easy Mother’s Day Surprise The Kids Can Organize Themselves
Taking into account all the wonderful mother’s day crafts that could be undertaken, the perfect one that ensures you don’t need to be involved are mother’s day coloring pages.
Put quite simple, kids love to color in.
Us mom’s love to see our kids coloring.
The coloring pages therefore seem like the perfect solution.
The pages could also double up as a card if they wrote on the back of it, and if dad was able to help out, maybe he could even find a frame to fit it. Oh the options!
All you would need to do to make it (kind of a surprise) is to print out all the pages, and let the kids choose which they would like to color in. Tell them to hide the pages away until mother’s day and you are done. A sort of surprise gift.
