When I was a child, one of the best Easter gifts I can recall getting is probably not what most adults would guess. It was not a big fancy egg, it was not a whole heap of chocolate and it was not some expensive toy.
It was a simple egg carton. Yes that’s right. A very basic egg carton.
But wait.
It wasn’t JUST an egg carton.
It was a candy filled Easter egg carton and wow it was amazing!
I vividly recall being so excited at the selection of goodies in my egg carton. I also kept it until all the other Easter treats had been consumed, leaving the best until last.
Sometimes the simple ideas are the best ones and that was definitely the case with this gift.
So, if YOU need some new Easter ideas for the kids, then this one will have to be on top of the list. You will surprise yourself at how popular it will be.
The Perfect Easter Craft
I will say it again because I truly believe it. This IS one of the best egg carton Easter crafts you will find.
Maybe make it for your kids, or maybe let your kids make it for their friends. It’s very simple to do, quick to prepare and makes the perfect gift.
Plus of course you have complete control as to what goes into the egg carton so you can pick only the best candy and maybe a few little fluffy Easter chicks too.
Free Egg Carton Easter Printables
To ensure that your egg carton craft looks the best it can, I have created some Easter printables which you can download for free from the subscriber printable library.
Your egg carton Easter gift will be complete in just a few simple steps.
Step 1: Head to the free printable library and choose the egg carton Easter printables that you would like to use.
Step 2: Print onto matte photo paper and cut out.
Step 3: Line the printable up on the egg carton and measure where the carton fastener is. You will need to cut a hole to ensure that the egg carton can still close after you have added the printable.
Step 4: (Optional) If you are feeling particularly crafty, you might like to paint your egg carton before adding the printable. This is entirely optional and is personal preference.
I have created this craft without painting the egg carton but if you would like the carton to be a specific color then this is very easy to do.
Step 5: Attach the printable of choice to the outside of the egg carton with glue or double sided tape.
Step 6: If you wish to personalize the egg carton, print off another Easter label which sits inside the carton. The space has been left blank for you to add children’s names.
Step 7: Fill with lots of delicious Easter candy.
I filled the bottom of the egg box with some shredded paper to give a pop of color. This also doubled as a nice resting place for the eggs.
Of course if you don’t have any shop bought Easter eggs to use to fill the egg carton, it is super easy to make your own.
Take a look at this range of homemade Easter candy that you can make. These would complete the homemade gift and would look just as good (if not better) than filling with store bought candy.
The final result? Well it’s pretty adorable don’t you think?
I loved it as a kid and I’m sure your kids will love it too.
This is the kind of egg carton Easter craft that you know the kids are going to go crazy for. It looks good, it’s easy to make and it’s full of candy. Sounds pretty awesome don’t you think?

This is such a fantastic and fun idea Catherine, what child would not love to receive these, in fact I know many adults who would love to get them. It is that little different touch and unique gift that makes a huge difference. Anyone can buy an Easter egg off the shelf but this stuff takes time, care and preparation which speaks volumes and shows that you care and have spent time and effort creating them. For me they are the best types of gifts and presents. 🙂

Thanks for your lovely comment Andi. I think things like this are a lot more fun than shop bought things, plus you can add a mixture of your favourite things in there 🙂
