These confetti balloon wands are perfect for your New Years celebration. The tutorial is courtesy of our contributor Val from Val Events Gal which is easy for you to follow.

Confetti balloon wands are really fun for kids and adults on New Years Eve. The last couple of years I have had very kid friendly New Years parties. We play some games, wear party hats, play with noise makers, and always have lots of balloons.

Balloons are something that both kids and adults can enjoy. The fun thing about having balloon wands is you can use them for decoration and kids(or adults) can play with them as well.

I used some left over Christmas tinsel as the confetti in clear balloons, which I just love the look of. You can also just buy any colorful confetti and fill the balloons with it.

At midnight people can pop the balloons and the confetti will fly!

You can use black or solid color balloons. Then the confetti inside can be a surprise for the end of the night. There are so many possibilities!

These are perfect for any kind of New Years party but also great for other occasions.

For a kids birthday use colors to coordinate with the theme and write on the balloon how old the birthday kid is turning. I am definitely going to be making confetti balloon wands for every occasion!

How To Make Your Confetti Balloon Wands

You will need just a few simple items to create your amazing confetti balloon wands.

Ensure you have the following together:

  • Clear balloons
  • Tinsel or confetti
  • Balloon sticks
  • Sharpie metallic markers
  • Ribbon
  • Hot glue gun

Step 1: Prepare the tinsel

If you are using tinsel like I did then start off by cutting up the tinsel into small pieces.

Step 2: Place the tinsel inside the balloon.

To get the tinsel/confetti in the balloon it is easiest to use a funnel. I don’t have a funnel so I made a temporary one out of paper.

If you are using paper, tape it securely into a cone shape.

Just make sure the end is narrow enough to fit in to the balloon but wide enough so the confetti doesn’t get stuck. Once again it is easier with a funnel but it is doable without the funnel.

Then simply fill the balloon up with the confetti.

Step 3: Blow up the balloon

Blow up the balloon and tie it.

Tuck the balloon into one of the slots on the top of the stick.

Step 4: Secure in place

Glue ribbon to the top of the stick.

Wrap the ribbon around down towards the bottom. Glue it again in the middle and glue it one last time at the bottom of the stick.

Take two pieces of ribbon and tie them around the top.

You can just tie them or make a bow.

Step 5: Write a message on the balloon

Take the metallic sharpie and write any message you want on the balloons.

I wrote the year and new years.

You can get creative here. I wrote them pretty big so it would be easy to see.

You can write in cursive or block letters.

I honestly have the worst hand writing in the world so if I can do it you can do it, most likely better than I did!
