2. Apple Picking: Find an apple orchard that is open to the public for apple picking. 

Different orchards will operate in different ways. Some will charge an entry free but allow you to eat apples whilst inside. Others will be free to enter, but don’t allow eating before purchase. Wear some comfy shoes and enjoy the freedom of picking your own fruit.

The great thing is that after the adventure, the teens can enjoy creating lots of apple treats, such as a delicious apple crumble or apple pie to eat with hot custard.

3. Visit A Sunflower Field: If your teen has never visited a sunflower field, then now is the time!

Not only can you pick your own beautiful sunflowers to take home, but it is an incredibly opportunity to obtain some stunning photos.

4. Visit A Pumpkin Patch: Visit your local pumpkin patch and grab some pumpkins to undertake some pumpkin carving, or make pumpkin pie. It’s the perfect Fall activity.

5. Bike Ride: The fall is the perfect weather to take a bike and even stop for a picnic on the way. Choose somewhere you can enjoy the beautiful fall leaves, so head for the hills, ride along the river or head to a local park with a bike trail.

6. Go On A Hike: A great way to wear off some teen energy is to head off on a hike. Wear some comfy shoes or hiking books and set off on a trail.

4 Fall Pictures To Color

Finding activities for preschoolers to do on an ongoing basis, can be challenging. Whilst there are so many ideas circulating on Pinterest for amazing craft ideas, sometimes all we need is something simple.

Something that will keep our preschooler occupied long enough so that we can sit down and have a hot cup of tea.  Hot being the word here, not luke warm and not microwaved for the 10th time!

Yes crafting is fun, but it requires our attention. A lot of it!

There are times when all you want is something that you don’t have to think about, and that you don’t have to spend longer clearing up than it did actually doing the activity.

I get it. I am a mom of a 2 and 6 year old and sometimes taking the easy route is all that you have the energy for.

Summer may be over, but that doesn’t mean that the outside fun has to be.  Far from it!  Fall is a fantastic time of year to get kids out and about.

Simply rug them up, and get outdoors exploring.

Little kids love searching for things, so a Fall scavenger hunt is perfect for keeping them entertained as an outdoor activity.

It’s not even big things that kids like searching for.  Have you noticed how much fun they can have with a stick and a pile of dirt?  It’s imaginative play at it’s best.

Wouldn’t it be awesome to climb into their heads to know exactly what they are thinking as they spend half an hour or more using a stick to circle and make patterns in the dirt.

The first thing to ensure is that each child has their own scavenger hunt printable sheet.  Whilst it is good to teach sharing, preschoolers often have a hard time understanding this concept.

Besides, they are also at an age where they are undertaking individual exploration and they need to have immediate access to what they are looking for.

And finally it’s just a lot more fun to actually hold your own Fall scavenger hunt sheet!

Explore with the Scavenger Sheet and Pencil in hand

Once all the kids are set with their own scavenger hunt sheet and pencil it is time to get exploring.

Each time the child finds something on the hunt sheet list, they are to mark that item with a cross.

Some items they might be able to pick up and take with them, such as a twig or leaf, but others they will just have to stand and admire.

You might like to set a time limit on exploration and then enjoy a morning tea or picnic lunch together.  This will just create added fun as you throw down a picnic rug and reach for special treats.

This is a good time to check those easy finger food recipes that the kids will love help making and be excited to eat. That’s two activities rolled into one!

Whilst you are eating you can discuss all the things that were found and if there is anything left to find on another day.

This is also a good opportunity to discuss the items found using the following prompts:

• What shape was the find?
• Did it smell?
• Was it hard or soft in texture?
• Was it edible?
• Was it living?
• What color was it?

It’s amazing how much conversation this will start and it will also create a lot of added excitement as the children discuss all their finds.

Today’s Easy Thanksgiving place setting tutorial is brought to us by our contributor Blanca from Creativities Galore. A decorated table will help the kids feel special within the celebration and lets face it …. we all love a fancy table setting!

Happy November. I am Blanca and today I am sharing a kids Thanksgiving place setting.

This place setting will make your little guest feel like one of the grown ups.

This place setting has all the basic things a typical place setting has but with a twist.

Fun Thanksgiving Themed Drink Bottle

Instead of using a regular cup I used a small glass milk bottle which made the drink bottle a little more fun for the kids.

Inside the milk bottle there was an orange striped straw that had a THANKFUL label on it.

Create a Gift Box With Cutlery And Place Name

For the cutlery I placed a spoon and fork inside a small canvas drawstring bag and put that inside a small wooden crate.

I added ivory and gold crinkled paper shreds to the crate to add some height.

To create an adorable yet different Thanksgiving name card I started with a small grapevine wreath. A paper name card was tapped to the wreath which contained the child’s name. 

Bright Colored Plates

I decided to use these blue and white polka dot plates as they really added a pop of color to the table.  

The plates were then laced with a neutral colored napkin on top of it. The neutral tone with the bright plate worked beautifully together.

Simple Yet Effective Kids Thanksgiving Place Setting

This table setting is very easy to put together and the kids will love it. They will feel extra special because they will have their own place setting just like the adults do at their table.

To compliment the place setting, a colorful Fall leaf garland would look beautiful hung around the table and again it is really quick and easy to put together.

I love this time of year. Isn’t fall the best?!

I live in Arizona and where I am from we don’t really have fall. There are no changing leaves mostly just cacti and palm trees.

I still love this time of year though because it is finally starting to get cooler out. We have the hot season and the nice season.

Since we don’t actually have falling leaves I have to get a little creative. I got these fake fall leaves from the dollar store and they are perfect for decorating. I made them into a colorful fall leaf garland.

I had to brighten them up a bit with purple, my favorite color.

You can keep them in the traditional fall colors if you prefer and that makes it really easy to make!

You can make two garlands from each package of leaves and the total cost of materials was $2.

I just love the dollar store, you can find so many materials to make into pretty things! This was super easy to make and my daughter even helped out with adding the leaves.

Items You Need To Make The Fall Leaf Garland

• Fake leaves (I found mine from the dollar store)
• Twine
• Paint (optional)
• Hole puncher

How To Make The Fall Leaf Garland In 3 Easy Steps

This fall leaf garland is super easy and quick to make.

Simply by following the next 3 steps you will be able to create multiple garlands that can easily be used for decoration.

Step 1: Paint (Optional)

If desired paint the leaves in bright colors.

I put two colors side by side in a cup then dipped the paint brush into a bit of both color and made a swirl paint pattern on the leaves.

After painting, let the leaves dry completely.

The leaves also look great without the paint, so this is an optional step depending on how you want your leaves to look.

Step 2:  Create Holes In The Leaves

Punch a hole in the top of each leaf. I did two at a time to make the process quicker.

If you want them to lay flat punch a hole in the top and bottom and then you will be stringing both ends of the leaves onto the twine.

Step 3: Add The Leaves To The Twine

I put 25 leaves onto a string (or twine) and spread them out slightly.

Each pack of leaves had 50 leaves, therefore one package made two garlands.

You can make a bunch and hang them all around, or make the garland longer by simply adding extra leaves.

The garland would also be perfect for a backdrop and lining a dessert table, if you gathered lots of them up together.

I just love how simple it is to make and so festive for fall. I will also be using them to decorate for Thanksgiving.

A quick and easy DIY craft will make all the difference to your Fall or Thanksgiving decor. It’s such a simple craft, but it will look incredibly pretty scattered around the home or your party area.
