What Kind Of Wine Is Best For Sangria?

The first rule of thumb when choosing the wine for your sangria is to choose CHEAP wine. Your wine is going to be infused with so many other flavors that you really don’t want to waste your money on expensive wine.

Trust me, no one is going to be able to tell whether you spend $30 or $50 on your bottle of wine, so save the cash for other things at your party.

Don’t go crazy cheap on the wine, but definitely don’t spent a lot of money.

Whilst you can print directly onto full size sticker sheets, I personally find this more awkward to work with. I also prefer the final look of the matte photo paper as opposed to sticker sheets.

Step 3: To ensure a clean look, remove the existing beer label. Leave the label around the bottle neck so you know what beer you are drinking.

Step 4: Place double sided sticky tape at the end of the labels and set into place on the beer bottles.

Relaxing is the name of the game, and whilst you may have the perfect outdoor setting, the addition of pillows really makes all the difference. We are not however just talking pillows, we are talking about patriotic pillows!

Melanie from Simple Made Pretty has shared an easy how to tutorial to enable you to whip up these in plenty of time for the holidays.

You don’t need to have any crafting experience, or any special patriotic fabric. Can you use a hole punch and a paint brush?

If yes, then this tutorial is for you!

At the end of the post Melanie also shares how you can make a simple backdrop that perfectly matches these perfectly.

How To Make Patriotic Pillows

These easy DIY stenciled patriotic pillows for the July of 4th are the perfect addition to your Independence Day celebration decor.

Whether you are celebrating indoors or outdoors, these pillows will add flare to create a festive 4th of July event.

Stenciling a pillow cover versus a pillow itself allows you to remove the cover and store for next year, then rotate your seasonal decor without taking up too much space in your home.

Stock up on pillow covers for your throw pillows and when inspiration strikes, you can stencil something new.

Supplies you will need:

• White or tan pillow covers
• Fabric paint in red, white and blue
• Star punch
• Painters tape
• Foam brush
• Heavy card stock

Star Pillow Instructions:

1. Make a star stencil using your star punch and heavy card stock.
2. Insert cardboard or chipboard into the pillow covers so paint doesn’t leak through to the other side.
3. For the single star pillow, attach painters tape in the shape of a large star.
4. Use your foam brush to dab (not brush) the paint onto the fabric.  Remove tape immediately and let dry.

Multi-Star Pillow Instructions:

1. Attach the star stencil that you made in the upper left corner with painters tape.
2. Paint the stars either red or blue.
3. Repeat the star stencil until the entire pillow is covered.
4. Remove tape Remove tape immediately and let dry.

Flag Pillow Instructions:

1. Attach the star stencil that you made in the upper left corner with painters tape.
2. Attach painters tape to the rest of the pillow to create stripes.
3. Paint the stars blue and the stripes red.
4. Remove tape immediately and let dry.

A few ways that we incorporated these patriotic pillows into our July 4th events were in a photo backdrop, on our living room sofa.

They were also perfect as outdoor pillows on a bench.

How To make a photo backdrop like pictured below

Step 1: Use the star punch from the above projects and punch red and blue card stock (about 8 pages each color). Tape or sew together to create a garland.

Step 2: Hang the star garland from white curtains.

Step 3: Use double sided tape to attach single stars to the curtains.

Step 4: Hang some white string lights behind the curtains, add some fun patriotic photo props and/or seating with your stenciled patriotic pillows and you’re done!

The string lights make this backdrop perfect for a night-time Independence Day celebration. Sit back, relax and enjoy the comfort of the pillows which help to create the perfect patriotic home decor.

One of the simplest table decorations you can use for any party is food tent labels. They are so versatile and can be used in a variety of ways.

• Sit them around the table with descriptions of the food written in the blank space. This will ensure that any dietary requirements are clearly labelled. It is also just a fun thing to do, and it’s fun to be creative with the naming of some foods to fit in with the party theme.
• Use them as place settings. If you are having a formal sit down meal, these labels are a great way to write people’s names on them so everyone will know where they are sitting.

Simply print, cut, fold and then write in the descriptions that you want.

Details: Each food tent label is sized 5 cm wide and 10 cm long when folded (approx 4″ x 2″).

Hand write the descriptions as you go. There is no need to mess around with trying to format text on a computer.

Whilst we always call them “cupcake toppers” there is nothing to stop you from using them on any food item. They are great for adding an instant themed nature to the food table.

Whilst it’s great for the kids to be running around outside enjoying the fresh air, sometimes they just want some quiet time.

The difficulty arises when you don’t know what to do with that quiet time. Coloring may be considered boring and you certainly don’t want them watching too much tv, so playing a game is a great alternative.

My daughter is 5 and one of the games that she loves is the memory game.

Half the time she remembers more cards than me. I’m not sure what that says about either her great memory or my bad memory, but she certainly loves to win.

If you have a couple of smaller children, this is a great game for them to play together.

Especially for the 4th July, I have created a printable memory game that can be played during the festivities.

There are 32 memory cards in total making 16 pairs. If you have a younger child, you might like to play with just 8 pairs.

Preparing The 4th of July Memory Game

I recommend that you print the memory cards onto thick white card stock. Cut out the pieces following the lines and then laminate to ensure it’s durability.

This will ensure that you can play the game over and over again without it getting destroyed.

You are now ready to begin your game.

How To Play The Printable Memory Game

The memory game is an easy game for preschoolers to learn, and can provide hours of entertainment.

If your not familiar with the game, I have provided you with some simple instructions.

Step 1: Lay all the cards with the pictures facing down. It is easier (for the memory) to lay them in rows, but you can lay them however you like.

Step 2: Player 1 turns over 2 cards. If they match, the player keeps both cards and then takes another turn.

If the cards don’t match, both cards get turned back.

Step 3: Player 2 then turns over 2 cards. The idea is to find as many matching pairs as you can.

Step 4: Players take it in turns until all the cards have been turned over and paired.

Game Over: Once all the cards have been turned over, players count their matching pairs and the winner is the player with the most pairs.

It’s such a simple game, but one that can keep the kids occupied for hours.
