Oh how exciting Rewa, I hope you have a wonderful time with her.

My daughter’s 1st birthday was before I started blogging properly, so unfortunately I don’t have any tutorials or anything, so I will try an explain as best as I can 🙂

Basically the wings were made out of her feet and the body was self drawn. I started with the feet. The left foot is the right wing and the right foot is the left wing.

I simply painted the bottom of her foot and then placed it in the middle of the canvas. This was a two person job to hold hands etc out of the way! After the first foot was done, we cleaned it, and then painted the second foot (leaving a small space between the feet to draw the body).

Once the feet were finished, I drew the body in the middle, and once the body was dry I added the little face. The writing on the bottom was a complete after thought. If I was to do that now, I would stencil it to make it a lot neater.

Hi Catherine, I am currently planning my daughter’s 1st birthday, which happens to be butterfly theme. I absolutely love the personalized butterfly canvas with her 2 footprints. I would like to recreate that for my daughter. Can you tell me how you went about doing that? Her birthday is in 10 days!

Thanks Jacqui. Butterflies certainly makes a cute theme for a little girl. Oh you should definitely do the foot print butterfly….it is adorable and such a lovely memory to have of their tiny feet 🙂
