Today’s post is something a little bit different, but something I know that you wont mind me posting. As you know October is breast cancer awareness month and Courage Through A Lens is an ebook full of breast cancer awareness pictures which have all been taken by photographer Kiki van de Larr. This ebook is not like any other you have seen….it is a unique photo collection that captures the journey of an amazing woman fighting breast cancer. The images are all taken by photographer and breast cancer patient Kiki. Kiki took her camera to every scan, appointment, surgery, chemo and radiotherapy treatment to give you a first hand account of what fighting this disease is all about. This is an honest insight into the diagnosis, the treatment and the ongoing fight, all laid out in pictures.
Meet Kiki: She is the wife and mother of two young children aged 1 and 3, and was diagnosed with breast cancer on 30th January 2013. She underwent a mastecomy on 12th March but sadly on October 17th she was given the devastating news that the cancer had spread to her brain and bones and she is now in the terminal phase of the disease. This ebook is Kiki’s story about her breast cancer journey, all captured in photographs.
Please share it and support the fight against breast cancer. Kiki is donating 50% of all the sale proceeds to the Australian breast cancer foundation and Flinders Medical Centre. It is her wish to be able to donate the first cheque personally herself. As Kiki is now in the terminal phase, 50% of profits are also to be placed in a trust fund for her two children.
This ebook is for everyone who is battling breast cancer, know someone who is, or lost someone to it. These breast cancer awareness pictures are all documented within the ebook which is from the heart of a beautiful woman whose courage and determination shines through.
Kiki’s story is an inspiration to us all. It is her aim to provide encouragement to all those suffering from breast cancer and if this ebook is able to relieve even a small percentage of someone’s anxiety about the impending treatment, then it will have been beneficial. Kiki’s openness, willing to share and her contagious smile will touch everyone. Thank you for helping Kiki and her family.
