Valerie LewisVal – Easy Party DIY’s

Val will be sharing with us easy DIY and party planning ideas that are on a budget.  For busy moms who need to watch what your spending, Val’s ideas will be perfect for you.  Val show’s how easy it is to enjoy the party planning process with her simply and easy ideas.

Hi I’m Val.  I blog at Val Event Gal about easy party DIY’s and desserts.  I am so excited to be here.

I’ve always been interested in the artistic and creative side of life. As a kid my parents encouraged my sister and I to use our imaginations. We threw the best pretend parties on the block! My parents are also known for their legendary Christmas Eve parties. In college I studied Hospitality and Event Management. I found party planning to be a natural fit for me. There is something so satisfying about being involved in other people’s happy occasions.  I have planned every type of event imaginable from corporate, night life, wine, weddings and birthday parties.

Since becoming a mom I have become so excited about creating a magical fun experience for holidays and birthdays. My 4 year old daughter Keira loves celebrating and she lights up like a Christmas tree when we talk about parties. I like to create easy projects that allow her to be involved with the party planning process. As a mom sometimes the only time to create is with a little partner. We may make huge messes but it’s always a party in my house! I enjoy creating party DIYs that don’t require fancy materials or are too difficult to make. Parties are meant to be enjoyed even the planning process. Yes, I like to go all out for celebrations, but I still need to put my daughter through college. I’m all about celebrating without breaking the bank.

After having a kid I also discovered my love for baking, especially making fun edible art. Once I found out how to make cute edible treats I was hooked! I love showing others easy tutorials of how to make fun party desserts. Anyone can make impressive, cute desserts with the right directions. I’m especially a sucker for cupcakes. Taste testing is also a very important part of the baking process!

I want to encourage others to tap into their creative side. We all have the ability to create and think outside the box. Adults just don’t get to embrace that side enough. If you ever need help brainstorming ideas for a party I’m your gal! I also can create custom party decorations just find me on Etsy at Val Event Gal. I’m so thrilled to be here and share my ideas with all of you!

Melanie picMelanie – Handmade Project Tips

Melanie will be sharing her simple handmade project ideas that you definitely need in your life! If you love the idea of crafting, but think it’s not for you….think again.  Melanie has a way of showing you how simple this really can be.

Hi I’m Melanie and I blog at Simple Made Pretty where I share inspiration for simple, organized living with handmade projects and tips to create a balanced pretty life.

My biggest passions are organizing, simplifying, home décor, DIY projects and crafting.  I grew up on a farm with 5 siblings and was raised to work hard with a simple lifestyle.  I learned how to sew, clean, cook and live frugally at a young age.  I found that many of my close friends did not have the hand-made, home-grown roots as I did and would always comment on my simplistic creativity and my “Martha-Stewart-like” characteristics.

I love inspiring others by providing creative DIY projects, paper crafting, sewing projects and other handmade craft tutorials.  Many of my paper craft projects are created using a Cricut Explore Machine with links to make-it-now projects for Cricut users and Free Printable’s for my blog readers.  I also feature a monthly series with “Handmade Gifts Under $5.”   Since starting Simple Made Pretty in January 2015, I have been featured on the design team at CutCardStock.com while maintaining a successful Etsy and Amazon shop selling handmade paper products.

I’m so excited to be here and hope to inspire you with my creations!
